President Message

Warm Greetings from SMS Urology Development society . At the outset, please accept my heartiest welcome to our newly created society with the objective of developing Department of Urology at SMS , Jaipur. It is our dream to make our department one of the best in the country and ultimately put it on the urology world map . The department which started in the year 1975 by Professor K C Gangwal is soon going to celebrate its Golden jubilee in the year 2025. The faculty members of the department and its alumni members which is going to touch the 200 mark by that year are looking forward to a grand celebration Our new web portal would allow you to discover more about our department , it’s faculty members as well as our working culture .This Society is already a registered body with the faculty of Urology department at SMS, Jaipur as its executive members . We are looking forward to continue to serve and support all of you in the future in every possible way whoever comes in contact with our department and the society . We look forward to our urology alumni , past faculty members and well wishers as our main source of motivation and to push our limits every single day.

About Department of SMS Urology

The Department of Urology was established in year 1975 by Dr. K. C. Gangwal.
The Department started Live Donor Renal Transplant in 1994 and till now More than 700 live Renal Transplants have been done.
Cadaveric Kidney transplant started in February 2015 and 70 cadaveric Renal transport successfully done till date.
We were the first to start Urodynamics and PCNL(Percutaneous Nephrolithotripsy) in the country The center is known for its highest number of PCNL surgeries in the world. The Department has performed more than 50000 PCNL procedures since its inception in 1986.
We perform all urological surgeries including advanced laparoscopic surgery.
Our department has a good academic & research training program for M.Ch residents with ten trainee residents per year( One of the largest in the country) & has published many research papers in various reputed Medical Journals worldwide.

PCNL Theatre

An exclusive theatre has been Inaction since 1986. Dr. Arthur smith, one of the stalwarts In PCNL surgery provided training to ... us. Since then the number of patients taken care of by this procedure exceeds 15,000. The average output of this theatre Is about 8-1O cases per operation day. The Department has performed more than 50000 PCNL procedures since its inception in 1986. The Theatres are well equipped with modern HD Cameras, Monitors, Holmium Laser URS (Uretero Renoscopy Procedures) Flexible Ureteroscope (RIRS). Read more >
